Message From the Principal

At Portland Middle School, our top priority is the well-being of every student who walks through our doors. We are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where students feel valued, connected, and ready to learn. At the same time, we recognize that a strong and ongoing partnership between school and home is essential to student success. We believe that when families and schools work together, students are best positioned to thrive both academically and socially.
Communication
Clear and consistent communication is key to maintaining this partnership. We utilize ParentSquare as our primary and most effective form of communication for updates, announcements, and important information. Families are also always welcome to reach out via phone or email, and we encourage open dialogue to ensure all questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
Academics
Our students engage in a comprehensive academic program that includes core classes in math, English Language Arts, science, and social studies. In addition, students have the opportunity to explore a variety of unified arts courses, as well as world language offerings in French and Spanish. We strive to provide a well-rounded educational experience that supports both academic growth and the development of individual interests.
Extra-Curricular Opportunities
We are proud to offer a wide range of athletic programs and school clubs. Our goal is for every student to find at least one opportunity to get involved outside of the classroom—whether that be through sports, the arts, or other interest-based activities. These experiences help students build connections, develop new skills, and foster a sense of belonging within our school community.
Utilizing the School Team
We understand that the middle school years can present unique challenges for students as they grow and develop. Please know that our entire school team is here to support your child—academically, socially, and emotionally. We encourage families to reach out whenever support is needed, as we are committed to working together to ensure each student’s success.
